7 July 2010 -- Work is underway on a 9.4 MW photovoltaic power project for the Antelope Valley Union High School District in California. The project spans 10 schools and is among the largest school solar projects undertaken in California.
Rosendin Electric received a $50 million contract to support project engineering. The firm also has responsibility for procurement and construction. It will work with PsomasFMG of Los Angeles, the project and asset manager, and with GCL Solar, a unit of GCL-Poly Energy, which recently signed a solar project agreement with PsomasFMG to buy the Antelope Valley project.
The project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2011. Rosendin claims it will have completed projects over the course of 18 months that will deliver nearly 20 MW of solar power in California. Rosendin recently completed installing a 1.2 MW solar array at the Mineta San Jose International Airport with partner Canadian Solar, and is in the process of completing similar projects for the Hollister Wastewater Treatment Project, Hollister Unified School District, San Ysidro School District and the Arizona Western College in Yuma, AZ. Rosendin said it also will complete a 5 MW solar project for the Sunset Reservoir in San Francisco within two months.
